The first version of the web page for the 25-26 April WRE event in Veszprém, Hungary is up and running. It is still in development, but already contains the basic information to plan your trip over the Holiday Season.

http://www.mtbo.hu/

We are pleased to host on the same event the first rounds of the Czech and Slovak Cup. Altogether we expect at around 500 riders from a dozen or so nations. To ensure good atmosphere between the races, we booked the largest student pub of the town exclusively for MTBO participants for Saturday evening

Just a quick update and a few more reasons why you should be in Veszprém on 25-26 April

   * Many international riders indicated their participation, including amongst others the best ones of Team GB and Portugal, and a 45 strong Lithuanian team

   * Maria Cutova will be the speaker (remember her from WOC '07 and '08, EOC '08)

   * The organizers, in cooperation with the Hungarian Federation, applied to host MTBO WOC 2012 in Veszprém

Visit the continuously evolving website for further details.

When planning your trip, please note that you have to submit accommodation bookings by 15 March if you request options offered by the organizers. We will do our best to satisfy requests submitted later, but no guarantees on availability.

We just closed the official entry period:

460 riders from 17 countries
107 in ME and 53 in WE

So we will see probably most of you in Veszprém!

Thank you for initiating such event! It's been time already Your geographical position and terrains are really suitable for having it as a constant event each year and not only till 2012

I also have one remark to make. About the readability of the maps. It could have been much better if detailed foot-o signs, such as pits or separate bushes would have been eliminated. Also, 1:10 000 was much better than 1:15 000.
P.S. lithuanian bus was at home at lunchtime yesterday

Ačiū and see you!

Thanks for the encouragement!    The 2009-2012 series was devised with a 2012 WOC in mind (applied for, decision awaited). But if it remains so popular, we will not stop it.

The quality of maps was one aspect where we did not meet the standards set for ourselves. We will work on it.

In the meantime we welcome any suggestion or observation on ways to improve the event. You are welcome to post here or write to info@mtbo.hu in confidence

Suggestions received so far:
  • Somewhat larger gap between waves of mass start to reduce load in the forest and on the Finish.
  • Better sound system for the pub.
  • Spring time, mass start and over 100 W21 bikers in spandex in the same start group carries too much risk of cardiac overload for M50
