Hi..I am planning to attend these after the Masters Cup in Poland at the same time as MTBO WOC so am looking at all my travel connections.  I gather they are in Freistadt or nearby  and I have heard from the organiser that it is still on although there is little other info available yet which is fine .  Does anyone have any info generally about the area, places to stay, transport etc as I cant find much on the internet.  I would probably get there on the Wednesday/Thursday and take in any sights to see etc.

Cheers

The races in Freistadt will be organized by Mike Pirklbauer: sportmike@gmx.at

He should be able to give you all the information you need.

Places to stay in Freistadt: http://freistadt.riskommunal.net/system/web/gelbeseite.aspx?typ=6&cmd=branchen&menuonr=218840781

Pension =  Bed&Breakfast, Privatzimmer= private Accomodation, Urlaub am Bauernhof = holidays on a farm

There will be at least 20 Austrians going to the World Champs in Poland and back home afterwards. But I cannot give you any information about possible lifts yet as we have to find out who qualifies first.

Sights: I can recommend to stay in Vienna for a few days. Tourists keep saying its a nice town to see and I happen to live there. There is (almost) always some space on the floor in my appartment.

Cheers Michi..thanx for the links, info and offer of some floor space. I shall carry on with my planning and touch base once it gets a bit closer and more details are up etc.  It would be good to spend some time in Vienna between events.. Im maybe looking at stopping off in Prague to take in some more sights as u do but will see how money time and transport pans out.  I will probably get to Vienna for nite of 3/9 and look to get to Friestadt on the 4th pm to settle in for Saturday and Sunday events.  I note its an 1 1/2 hour train ride.

I might also be going to Verona on the 8th for work conference on the 9th and 10th on State owned land.
